As we draw closer to the opening of our third luxury lodge in South America (the first one in Argentina) at the end of this year, we would like to share some information about the excursions we are developing for our guests.

Working with renowned biologist and photographer, Emilio White, we are creating original, authentic and unique excursions so that our guests can experience the Iguazú Falls as they have never before been seen. As with Awasi Atacama and Awasi Patagonia, we are following the concept of having one private guide and 4×4 vehicle per room – or in this case, per Villa.

“The wealth of these grounds goes far beyond the famous waterfalls,” says Emilio, “an unknown world awaits.”

The sun rises over the Rainforest canopy in Iguazu

The excursions at Awasi Iguazú are divided into zones and themes, the primary zone being the Iguazú Falls. Next, we explore the Atlantic Rainforest, an area of incredible beauty surrounding the falls.

Due to the fact that it is not connected to any other rainforest, the Atlantic Rainforest has 1000s of endemic plants and animals. What is more, Misiones is Argentina’s most diverse area in terms of people and culture.

Excursions include boat trips to see unknown waterfalls (not just the famous ones!); visits to 18th century Jesuit ruins; and visits to local Guarani tribes to learn about their ancient artisan crafts and relationship with the rainforest.

Our private outings go further than the Iguazu Falls.

Awasi Iguazu (along with Awasi Atacama and Awasi Patagonia, both members of Relais & Chateaux) are the only hotels to offer 100 percent private tours, each room having its own dedicated 4WD and private guide.

From the moment you arrive, you will be allocated your own private excursion guide and a 4WD vehicle, allowing you to explore the region at your own pace. This may mean lingering to contemplate a view, waiting patiently to capture that perfect photograph, or letting yourself be guided through the wonders of the Atlantic Rainforest.

In terms of duration, excursions are divided into full-day outings (from 6 to 10 hrs.) with picnic lunch included; or half-day excursions (between 4 and 6 hrs.) returning for lunch at Awasi.

Discovering hidden sports, off the beaten track,

Our guides are professionally trained in archaeology, history, flora, fauna and first aid, so you can enjoy trip of a lifetime in a safe, in-depth and pleasant way. We have guides who speak Spanish, German, French and English. All our vehicles are equipped with GPS and communication systems.

We hope our guests will leave with an idea of the immense beauty of the Misiones Province, as well as the importance of conservationism in the area.
